- Hi my name is Sofia Maribel Contreras. I am 45 years old and I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) this was due to a hormonal imbalance; when I became pregnant with my son in 2002. I have been struggling with many conditions this has caused me. I've had heart failure, I am also currently doing Dialysis because I have developed kidney failure. I have also developed fibrodmialgia. I have arthritis and slowly my fingers are changing shape. I struggle with chronic fatigue, chronic pain. I get a rash due to the Lupus that is very painful, it's like a burning sensation. It is very hard for me to do day to day activities. I currently live on my own and have my companion who is a dog, her name is Zöey. I have a 21 year old son who lives with his cousin and is going to school to become a CNA which has me very happy and proud. However I really can't ask him for help because it is hard to be on your own. I am having to do this page because in the last few months a lot has happened, I was given until December to leave where I currently live, the owner is selling the house, so I will no longer be able to stay here. My license plates expired in August and I still haven't been able to renew them because my social security income is very little and I bearly make ends meet. I have ended with my 5 year relationship. Let's just say it is for the best. So I no longer have the support from him. I live in Tijuana because in San Diego rent is very expensive and I can't make it. I have numerous doctor appointments to where I have to go across the border walking since I can't drive due to my expired plates. This is a very difficult thing to do because I stand and walk more than in reality my body can handle. I have to rest for 2 days at least to start feeling a little better. My life is complicated, however I never give up. I am a covid survivor. I was in coma for 3 moths and the doctors had given me no hope, all my organs broke down and they kept saying that I was just not going to make it. However GOD had other plans!!!! And here I am. I ask if you can find it in your heart to donate just a little, because every little count.
