I’m writing this for my niece who needs all the help she can get to survive.
My niece, Sofia Vale, is just 7 years old. She is bright, loving, and full of life, but right now, she is fighting a serious and life-threatening condition called bronchiectasis.
For those who may not know, bronchiectasis is a chronic lung disease that causes severe damage to the airways. Sofia lives with constant infections, persistent coughing, and difficulty breathing. What should be simple things for a child, running, playing, laughing freely, have become exhausting and sometimes impossible for her.
Over the past months, we have done everything they can. Endless hospital visits, medications, treatments, and careful monitoring. Sofia has been incredibly brave through it all, enduring more than any child ever should. But despite all efforts, her condition has continued to worsen.
Doctors have now told us that Sofia urgently needs a lung resection surgery. This procedure will remove the most damaged part of her lung to stop the cycle of infection and give her a real chance at a healthier, fuller life.
Why this is urgent
Sofia’s condition is not stable. Each infection puts more strain on her lungs and her small body. Waiting too long increases the risk of further damage and complications. This surgery is not optional, it is necessary, and time is critical.
Why we are fundraising
We are deeply grateful for the care Sofia has received so far. However, this journey comes with overwhelming financial pressure, especially with the urgency and level of care required.
The fundraiser will help us cover:
✅ The cost of the lung resection surgery and related medical care
✅ Hospital stays, medications, and post-surgery recovery support
✅ Travel and accommodation if we need to access specialized care
✅ Daily living expenses as I remain by Sofia’s side full-time
✅ Ongoing treatments and follow-up care to ensure her recovery
My only focus right now is being there for Sofia, comforting her, holding her hand, and making sure she never feels alone in this fight. But the reality is, we cannot do this alone.
Sofia’s strength
Despite everything, Sofia still smiles. She still dreams. She talks about going back to school, playing with her friends, and becoming strong again. She hasn’t given up, and neither will I.
How you can help
Any support, no matter how small, brings us closer to giving Sofia the surgery she urgently needs. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page would mean the world to us.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time to read our story, for your kindness, and for standing with us during this incredibly difficult time.
With love and hope.
