Hello, my name is Giada and I'm fundraising for my best friend Socrates, a beautiful 4 year old ginger tabby boy.
Over the past week I noticed a difference in Socrates behaviour, with him typically being a playful cat with an inquisitive demeanour. He had taken to hiding in unusual places and exhibited a loss of appetite, he was also urinating outside of his litter box and had even started hissing, if disturbed in the act of doing so.
This was uncharacteristic of the usually playful and active Socrates and elicited
concern regarding his wellbeing, so I kept a close eye on monitoring him. Sadly, within 24 hours he had ceased urinating and eating and had taken to hiding under my bed. His movement were restricted and he was exhibiting signs of acute distress and discomfort at which point I decided to take him to my local vet.
Upon his admission it was quickly ascertained that he was suffering from a Urethral obstruction Major and would need to be admitted to a veterinary hospital, for further treatment. He was transferred to the Medivet hospital in Enfield on the 19th of December for the insertion of a catheter which was performed under general anaesthetic, alongside a host of blood tests and medications necessary for his successful recovery.
He was lovingly cared for and nursed back to health by the amazing staff at Medivet and was given the all clear and was discharged on the 22nd of December.
Sadly, our joy was short lived and Socrates was readmitted the following day due to further issues pertaining to his Urethra. He is currently back in the Medivet hospital Enfield awaiting to undergo a further set of medical procedures in aid of treating his urethral obstruction.
The cost of both of these procedures has placed an immense strain on my financial situation, with the first procedure costing over £3,000, all of which was self financed as I wasn't eligible for cover via my pet insurance. The second procedure has a similar estimation and is imperative for Socrates future survival, as without it he will sadly pass away.
This leaves me in the heartbreaking situation of asking for donations to help cover the costs for Socrates second procedure and thus prolong his life. In total the two procedures will amount to a total of over £6,000, which I simply cannot self finance. Without this assistance Socrates will have to be put down, which doesn't even bare comprehension as he is still young.
Even if I don't reach the requested £3,000 - every little contribution will help to alleviate the financial burden and help to bring my little boy Socrates, closer to home.
Thank you in advance.
