The Sock-Tastic Seven, a Destination Imagination team at Waters Elementary, saw a need in their community and decided to make a difference. After reaching out to Grace Campus, a homeless shelter in Lubbock, TX, they learned that socks were the most needed item. Inspired to help, the team organized a sock drive at their school, setting a goal to collect 500 pairs of socks. Through morning announcements and creative posters, they rallied their classmates and teachers to join the cause. Not only did they meet their goal, but they surpassed it by collecting 581 pairs of socks! This experience showed everyone involved that even small acts of kindness can have a big impact on someone's health, comfort, and dignity. The Sock-Tastic Seven's dedication didn't stop there. They created a skit about their journey, which earned them 3rd place at the State Destination Imagination Competition. Now, they have the incredible opportunity to represent their school and community at Globals in Kansas City, Missouri. To make this dream a reality, the team needs to raise funds for registration, food, travel, and housing.
