We adopted Socks on Saturday 11/2 from a shelter in South LA after seeing a post communicating that he would be euthanized at only 10 months old.

He is a sweet, energetic, and kind pup. About 2 days after he was welcomed into our home he got out of our gate and hour before I got home from work. We search tirelessly and after about 2 days we found him through a neighbor’s ring app post.

When we found him the worst was confirmed, Socks had been run over and was badly injured. He was left with burn marks from the impact all over his abdomen, and legs. He also has a bruising as lab work indicated his liver enzymes were high.

We immediately took him to the emergency vet and paid $1,800 including the $150 office visit fee. He has been resting and on medications.

Despite all he’s been through his tail continues to wag.

We were not prepared to take on this bill but we needed to give him a fair chance at life. It has left us in a really tight position and we are struggling to keep up with his needed bandage changes and re-checks the vet said would be needed every 3-5.
