Help Social Worker Avoid Eviction After Job Loss

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Denasia Fitch, and I am a 28-year-old social worker dedicated to helping others navigate life’s challenges. Today, I find myself in need of support to overcome my own.

On January 5th, 2024, I was unexpectedly terminated from my job, which left me unemployed for six months. During that time, I actively searched for work and relied on unemployment benefits to cover my expenses. Unfortunately, my benefits ended on July 15th, leaving me unable to pay rent for August and September while I continued job-seeking.

I communicated openly with my property manager about the potential for late payments, and he assured me I could resume payments once I started working again. On August 21st, I was finally offered a new job, and after completing training, I started paying rent again in October. However, the missed months left me with a balance of $7,000.

Since October, I’ve been making consistent payments toward my current rent and the overdue balance, which is now down to $3,500. Despite my efforts, my situation took another turn when I was sent to the Emergency Department on November 1st. This required ongoing treatment, leaving me unable to work for two weeks. Without paid leave or unemployment benefits, I could only afford to cover my current rent, not the balance.

On November 18th, I received an eviction summons despite having an agreement with my property manager. Unfortunately, the building is now under new management, and my property manager stated the agreement is no longer being honored. I am now facing a court date on January 23, 2025, and the very real threat of losing my home.

I am humbly asking for your help to raise $3,500 to pay off the remainder of my balance and avoid eviction. Every contribution, no matter how small, will bring me closer to securing my home and rebuilding stability in my life.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can provide. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this campaign with others who might be able to help. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to me.

Sincerely,
Denasia Fitch
