UPDATE Aug30. Help Snickers Walk Again

Update 8/30

Snickers had his surgery on Tuesday, August 27. Surgery went fantastic. Although a couple of days later snickers has been diagnosed with possible pneumonia or some type of lung infection as well as heart failure. This comes as a shock to us as we were never told there was an issue with his heart during all of the previous, veterinarian exams and preop done before surgery. He is now being treated for both an infection in his lungs, which could possibly be pneumonia as well as treatment for heart failure. He is doing much better today after picking him up from the emergency vet hospital, who kept him and monitored him overnight. We still have a long way to go, but he also has a family who loves him and will make sure that he is taken care of. Again, thank you all for your support during this time. We are so grateful. I just wanted to give everyone an update.

We are managing Snickers pain as the vet suggested and keeping him well fed and watered. He is a trooper! , as the pain im sure is bad. Thank you to all who have donated we are blessed. Please continue to share as we still have a little ways to go!

Hello! This is my Shih Tzu, Snickers. He was a rescue after his owner passed away, and we were fortunate to be able to take him in. Snickers fit right in with our little family. We have loved and cared for him now for over 7 years.

He recently had an injury to his right hind leg which has left him unable to walk much at all at this point. Our recent veterinary visit and meeting with the surgical team has confirmed he has a torn ACL which requires a surgery to repair in order for him to return to his happy self to run and play.

We recently learned from the surgical team that if we do not get this surgery he will likely end up damaging the other leg as well which will leave him completely unable to use either back legs. The cost does include all costs for the surgery and post surgery care for pain.

Without this surgery, he will not heal and increase the risk of an injury to the other leg being damaged which will leave him completely immobile. Therefore, the surgery is our only hope at saving this precious member of our family that we love and adore so very much.

We would like to ask for support as this surgery will be expensive and with the cost of living these days we have found ourselves at a time that we just cannot afford this after the vet bills we have already accrued to this point.
