At the end of 2025, the sweetest, chattiest little rare orange female kitten fluffball would not leave my group's side after we crossed paths with her in a Koreatown alleyway. Collarless, skin and bones, and dirty with cuts and burrs, my boyfriend and I made the decision to bring her home and keep her safe from the unforgiving streets while we searched for a possible owner – but alas, she had no microchip, and nobody responded to our notices.

Maxine (as she was fondly named), found her way home to SNFR!

As the days passed, however, we noticed her belly started to grow very big – and one vet visit and ultrasound later, we confirmed that she was pregnant.

On Thursday, February 19th, 2026 (serendipitously the 9th birthday of one of our own cats), Maxine – still just a kitten herself – gave birth to SEVEN (7) sweet tiny babies!

And just like that, these 7 little Dwarves are welcoming in 2026 as the inaugural litter of SNFR (Safety Net For Rescue ) — a BIPOC, female‑founded Southern California multifaceted rescue and advocacy ecosystem committed to building a more compassionate and sustainable world for all animals.

As we work on the formalization of our organization, we have already begun the rescue work and could really use some financial support to assist Mama Maxine’s recovery journey (including a subsequent spay), and the growth of her babies – all of whom we will help to find their purrfect furrever homes once they are old enough.

If you’re able to, please consider sharing and/or donating however much you can to help our beloved Maxine and 7 Dwarves – every share and cent help.

Maxine is the best, most loving mama to her babies, and they all deserve the absolute best care!

And this is only the beginning for SNFR. The more money we can raise now, the more lives we can save later.

Thank you so much for your time, consideration, and generosity!

With gratitude,
Katie K., SNFR Founder
