Help Smokey Stevens Open " OFF BROADWAY "
Hello.. I'm Ronald Smokey Stevens, D.C. Native, veteran of Broadway-Television-Film , stages around the world, Author, and currently Documentary Filmmaker. I will be opening OFF BROADWAY on January 6th. 2022, thru January 23rd, 2022, in my One Man production " I JUST WANT TO TELL SOMEBODY " at THEATER FOR THE NEW CITY in New York City ( T.N.C.). T.N.C, as it is called, was founded in 1971. One of New York's leading OFF BROADWAY Theaters whose productions have won 43 OBIE's and THE PULITZER PRIZE for Theater.
" I JUST WANT TO TELL SOMEBODY " is my theatrical " comeback story ". In 1999 I starred on BROADWAY in my production " ROLLIN' ON THE T.O.B.A. " A Tribute To The Last Days of Black Vaudeville, where I served as Co-creator-Director-Choreographer, and Star. The show was able to garner " rave reviews " from the New Your press. The N.Y. Times quoted " be glad the days of Black Vaudeville has rolled around again "
Unfortunately, my critically acclaimed BROADWAY MUSICAL was forced to close prematurely, causing unemployment, depression, and my life to spiral downward and out of control.
This is the Story of my journey up the entertainment ladder of success, , my fall, and how I overcame the personal demons, battles, and struggles in my life.
At 70 yrs of age. I probably will never have an opportunity to OPEN OFF BROADWAY in my One Man show again. Mounting a show in New York is very expensive. Bringing a show into New York is even more costly.
Theater For The New City will cover 75% of the cost. THE REMAINING 25% will be MY responsibility.
I WILL NOT RECIEVE COMPENSATION....for my work and efforts. Only the box office split at the end of the 3 week run.
HELP ME defray some of my expenses with your kind donations and contributions, and HELP ME bring my personal, powerful message of OVERCOMING back to N.Y.C., OFF BROADWAY, and The World
"I JUST WANT TO TELL SOMEBODY " will be THE ENTERTAINMENT COMEBACK STORY OF 2022
.........and who knows....your assistance could possibly help me....GET BACK TO BROADWAY
