Help Smokey (AKA Bullet) Recover

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Bullet, formerly known as Smokey…You are probably wondering why my new mom changed my name. Well, I have had a rough couple days and now I’m one leg short!

My previous mom found me after I was missing for a couple weeks. My leg hurt awfully and I could barely even walk. Of course my mom took me to the animal doctor quickly with the hopes that I wouldn’t be to badly injured. Once at the doctors, they quickly realized the severity of my injuries. After talking with the doctor, we realized that my surgery would be expensive and recovery would be a long journey.

It was at this point I met my new mom! She is a part-time vet assistant who is also going to college to become a teacher. She offered to take me in as her own and get me the treatment I needed (and deserved)! My old family was so thankful that I could be saved!

After taking some x-rays, we discovered that I had been shot in the leg and the bullet was still in me! No wonder I was in so much pain! There was even a bebe gun pellet in my other leg. I over heard the dr talking with my new mom about how they could fix me. The doctor explained that amputation would be the only way I could feel better. Of course I was scared, but I knew they were there to help me. That is why I purred and made biscuits while they examined me. I wanted my new mom to see how much I appreciated her!

Soon after, they gave me some medicine that helped me to not hurt as badly. Then I got super sleepy and fell asleep. After I woke up, my new mom was right there and made sure I was nice and warm. I realized I now only had 3 legs and it was pretty weird to get around. Despite that, I already felt better. I made sure to let my mom know that too by rubbing my nose on her and purring.

I am now home and resting. I overheard her talking about how expensive my surgery was so I wanted to share my story to others in the hopes that my new mom could have some help! I can tell she already loves me very much and would take me again in a heartbeat! I have a long road ahead, but my new mom is here to help me every step of the way!

*The authorities have been made aware of this situation due to the fact that multiple other cats have been wounded by gun shots around where Bullet used to live. An investigation is being opened.*
