Help Smart's Mill Middle's Odyssey Team Go To World's

Smarts Mill Middle School's Odyssey of the Mind team won second place at the state competition in April and is advancing to the 2024 World Odyssey of the Mind Competition at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. “Team Houdini'' includes five 6th grade students and a 7th grade student from Smarts Mill. These students have worked hard all year to advance to this level of competition.

Odyssey of the Mind is an international creative problem-solving program where team members attend competitions to present their solution to a predefined long-term problem. Students work for many months to create their solution which involves writing, design, construction, theatrical performance, engineering, mathematics, and other STEAM activities. Teams must engage in teamwork, budgeting, time management, public speaking, and more to complete their project. Over 100,000 students from approximately 25 countries participate in the program each year.

Team Houdini is excited to have made it to the final competition and will be traveling to Ames, Iowa to attend the World competition held May 21 - 24. The cost of the trip will be over $2,000 per family. Please help us offset the cost of this amazing opportunity for our local students by contributing to our Go Fund Me page.
