My name is Kyryl. I am an Ukrainian dj and producer. I love electronic music and collect vinyl records from all over the world. I am also known as Kyryk.
On February 19 I returned to my home in Kherson, Ukraine after the European tour. On February 24, we faced the war.
Right now our city is occupied by Russian troops. We cannot leave the city or Ukraine. We have to hide in the dirty basement while rockets are falling down on our roofs.
It is hard to create music in this hostile environment, but i still try my best to do it, because my family lost all the income since our entire family business got destroyed.
My parents used to own a few stores in the local market in Kherson (Ukraine) for 20 years. They had two boutiques of women clothing (jeans and outerwear), and one small store where they used to sell men‘s apparel (mainly jeans and pants). As small business owners, my parents were handling everything themselves: they were bringing the goods from deferent vendors and then selling them to the customers.
On the 25th of February after bombings we lost all of our business in the fire. All three of our stores were burned with the goods in the amount of $30,000. Additionally, the two large stores were purchased for $15000 each. We paid $3000 for the small one. The cumulative financial damage is huge for our family. We have lost everything we had. My parents are both retired, they don’t have any income except for their pension, which is only $55 per person per month! We have a house that needs to be maintained, and we don’t know how to manage our bills since all of the money we had were invested in the business. The pension is barely enough to buy basic food.
I have never felt this hopeless and scared for my family’s future. Considering the situation we are in at the moment, I have no idea how to live going forward.
The situation in Kherson is awful and very hard to describe. I asked my friend to help with this fundraising because we do not have this option where I live.
