Help Sly Man Fight Potential Cancer
Donation protected
This is Sly Man. He started out as feral and was such a charismatic love bug. He loves everything that comes in contact with him, and he became part of the family very fast.
We noticed he was peeing a lot at first, then it became more and more frequent. We took him to the urgent care clinic and were told he had a platelet count of 0. We noticed when he is peeing he really wasn’t peeing at all, just a few drops of bloody urine is all that comes out. He tries to go every few minutes, but it’s always the same result. Antibiotics, steroids, and pain meds were given since the suggestion urgent care gave us was that we take him to the 24-hour animal hospital and begin more aggressive testing.
The vet told us it would be at least $5000.00 to start the type of testing the infectious disease team would be doing. We knew we couldn’t afford that at the moment but still desperately are trying to help the little guy, so we decided to start antibiotics, pain meds, and steroids to see if maybe that would start to help. Another trip to our very trusting family vet and a few thousand dollars later, we are still sitting in the same place. Nothing can be found and the platelet count is still at 0. Our vet said it could definitely be something infectious, or he could possibly have bone marrow cancer. She said more testing is definitely needed, but due to the cost, she was going to do all she could to hopefully knock out whatever could be causing this using more meds and adding more antibiotics that will cover anything bacterial-wise.
It’s a waiting game, but if it is what the worst possible scenario could be and he has bone marrow cancer, the only possible thing that can save this precious and sweet boy is testing to confirm and treatment if it is confirmed. We’re wanting to be prepared and do all we can to save this baby, and are asking for any help that anyone may be able to provide. Every donation, big or small, matters to this baby. He is such a brave little guy and he is fighting; we can see he is trying to be his normal self. Any amount of help is so appreciated and Sly Man will be grateful when we get him feeling better. We love him so much it hurts, and to see him go through this is very hard. Thank you to anyone who can help, and also those who can at the very least give us good energy and prayers that he’s going to get better and be his happy, loving, playful self very soon!!!
