Help Slurpy Fight Cancer: Radiation for Our Gummy Boy

Slurpy has always been a fighter but right now he’s facing his biggest battle yet.

Recently, Slurpy began sneezing and became very congested. At first, we thought it was a simple infection, but antibiotics didn’t help. On top of the congestion, he was dealing with additional medical complications, which made everything more complex and harder to diagnose. After multiple vet visits, ER trips, and trying different medications, his condition still wasn’t improving. We spent so many nights unsure of what to do, constantly calling and emailing our vets for guidance.

We were eventually referred to an internal medicine specialist who performed a scope and biopsy of his nasal passages. That procedure finally gave us an answer: cancer. During the same visit, a feeding tube was placed to ensure he continues getting the nutrition he needs to stay strong.

We were then referred to a radiation oncologist who believes Slurpy could be a good candidate for radiation therapy, which could give him a real chance at more time and a better quality of life. However, the cost is overwhelming Radiation is estimated to be between $10,000–$15,000, in addition to a $4,000 CT scan required to begin treatment.

Slurpy has always been a fighter. When we adopted him three years ago, he had already survived life on the streets and came from a home with poor conditions. He arrived with deep lacerations, a severe eye infection, chronic diarrhea, matted fur, and teeth that were so severely diseased they all had to be removed. With time, care, and many vet visits, he healed and grew into the sweetest, most loving cat. Now he’s our very sweet, very gummy boy.

Slurpy loves everyone. He gets along with all people, dogs, and even rats (we used to have pet rats). He is such a gentle, loving soul. Anyone who meets him falls in love with him instantly. Over the years, we have also fostered many cats, and Slurpy has been a friend to every single one of them, helping shy or scared cats come out of their shells and feel safe and comfortable in our home. We also adopted his biological daughter, Nena, who absolutely adores him, and we would love nothing more than for them to have more time together. He truly has the kindest heart and brings so much joy to our lives and the lives of others.

We love Slurpy so much, and he deserves every chance to keep fighting. Any support, whether through a donation or simply sharing his story, would mean the world to us. Thank you for taking the time to read about Slurpy and for helping give him a fighting chance.

TLDR: Slurpy, our incredibly loving rescue cat, has been diagnosed with cancer. We’re raising $15,000 to give him a chance at life-saving radiation so he can keep fighting and spend more time with us and his daughter, Nena.
