(1/15) UPDATE ON OUR BOY SLURP:
He has responded well to the antibiotics and hospitalization and his fever is gone! The ultrasound revealed multiple growths within his intestines, as well as on his liver. These growths are cancer, yet we do not know what kind. The difficult part is that regardless of what kind of cancer it is, it's aggressive and going to be difficult to treat. The wonderful doctor and team at M.A.S.H. in Santa Monica gave us some options including surgery to remove as many of the growths as possible, biopsies of the tissue, and then potentially chemo. While this option could potentially give him a bit more time, the types of cancer she is suspicious of are both aggressive and challenging to treat in a young dog. So likely this would only prolong the inevitable outcome.
The other option is to bring him home, let him rest with his family and enjoy his time being loved and spoiled.
Lorelei is heartbroken, as is her entire family who loves Slurpee like our own. He has touched so many lives and stole the hearts of his entire veterinary team, so knowing that the outcome is not great just feels like a huge blow to all of us.
He is now at home in Lorelei's arms, as she needs some time to digest all of this information and figure out how to proceed next. The good news is that he feels much better now that his fever is gone, so he is able to enjoy the weekend and run around his backyard.
Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for everyone who has donated, shared, and sent loving messages Slurpee's way. It means so much. SO SO MUCH.
Thank you thank you thank you.

This handsome boy is Slurpee. A 4-year old goofy pup who up until Friday Jan. 14th was living a happy normal life in Los Angeles when he suddenly became critically ill and was rushed to the emergency vet.
He is currently being hospitalized for a potential intestinal perforation and possible sepsis. He needs an ultrasound Saturday morning but there is a risk he may need emergency surgery before that happens, and will likely need surgery regardless.
Slurpee is my nephew dog. He is the happiest, friendliest dog on the planet and has never met a human or animal he doesn’t like. I’m creating this for my very best friend in the world, as she is currently maxing out credit cards and applying for every financial assistance she can find just to get him the care he so deserves.
Slurpee and Lorelei first met a few years ago when he was rescued as a stray puppy in Bakersfield, CA. through Bark n Bitches in Los Angeles. It was true love the moment she saw his picture, and from the day she brought him home they have been inseparable.
He goes with her *everywhere*. And is everyone’s best friend - the kind of dog friend who just lays on your feet and will keep you company for hours.
He has kept her going through some of the hardest moments in her life, and she will do anything to stand by him during his.
Every single dollar counts. I know we have a lofty goal, but it’s not even close to what his care may cost overall.
Slurpee has so much more life to lead and SO much more love to give, and I just want to do everything possible to make sure he has that chance.
