Hi, my name is Brendan and this fundraiser is for my cat, Slick.

Slick has been part of our family for 11 years. He’s always been a sweet, healthy, and loving cat who means the world to us. A few months ago, he got outside and came back with what looked like a small wound on his paw. At first, we thought it was minor but it slowly grew worse. His paw became swollen, red, and painful.

We tried at-home care and then brought him to the vet. Because of financial limitations, we started with a conservative treatment plan for something called “pillow foot.” He was on antibiotics and steroids for a month, but his paw only got larger and more painful. We went back for further testing, and today I received the heartbreaking news: the results strongly suggest he has a spindle cell tumor (sarcoma), a form of cancer.

Right now, Slick is still fighting, but he’s uncomfortable and getting worse. Without treatment, I may only have a couple of weeks before I’m forced to make the hardest decision of my life. Surgery could help, but it’s expensive, and even then we’d need further testing to see if the cancer has spread. At the very least, I want to be able to give him the chance at those tests or, if it comes to it, make sure he can pass peacefully and without pain.

We love Slick so much, and it breaks my heart to ask for help, but we can’t do this alone as I do not have a job due to being in college and almost all of my mothers money goes toward rent and bills. Any amount truly helps even just a dollar makes a difference. I’ve included photos of his diagnosis and the clinic he’s being treated at for transparency.
