Hi everyone,
We’re Purrs and Spurs, a student-led nonprofit cat club
at Tarleton State University dedicated to protecting and caring for
the cats who call our campus home. Today we’re asking for your help
with one of the most heartbreaking rescues we’ve ever faced.
Meet Sleepy, a young cat found near a dumpster on campus—alone,
frightened, and described to us as “covered in something sticky.” When we caught her, we immediately noticed her face was severely disfigured and rushed her to the nearest vet.
The diagnosis was devastating: Sleepy had an infected abscess on the
side of her face that caused the surrounding skin to die and require
surgical removal. Even more tragically, the infection had spread to
her eye, which is now nonviable and must be surgically removed.
Despite everything, Sleepy is gentle, resilient, and still purrs when
held. She deserves a chance to heal and live without pain—and we’re
committed to making that happen.
We’re raising $1000 to cover:
- Emergency vet care and wound treatment
- Antibiotics and pain management
- ️ Eye removal surgery
- ️ Post-op recovery and foster care
Getting Sleepy the medical care she needs not only relieves her
suffering—it also gives her the best chance at finding a forever home.
With proper treatment and healing, she’ll be ready for adoption and
able to live a full, happy life with someone who sees her for the
sweet soul she truly is.
As a student-run organization, we rely entirely on donations and
volunteer support. Every contribution—no matter the size—goes directly toward Sleepy’s medical care and recovery.
If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing Sleepy’s story.
Together, we can give her the second chance she deserves.
With gratitude, The Purrs and Spurs Officers
