Help Slavin Nadal School of Ballet
Donation protected
The Slavin Nadal School of Ballet has been providing the finest classical ballet training to the Austin community for over 30 years. Now this wonderful studio is at risk with the challenges surrounding COVID 19. The studio was opened by the founding directors of Ballet Austin, and the high-quality training continues under the direction of the Slavin's longtime protégé and his wife, Joseph and Kimberly Nygren Cox.
The stay-at-home requirements due to COVID 19 are greatly affecting this small family-run studio and their students. Because so many in our community are facing hardship, the directors are doing whatever they can to ensure that nobody has to sacrifice their ballet classes.
-They moved their entire class schedule to a live online format.
-They are providing classes to students regardless of ability to pay if a parent becomes unemployed.
-The online adult classes are offered on a pay-what-you-can donation basis.
-Practice class videos are available to the public free of charge.
-The faculty is still being paid.
The harsh reality is that the overhead costs of maintaining the studio remain, and like so many, this type of small business falls through the cracks of government aid programs. More than a school, this studio is a community, and we want to ensure that it is still here once this crisis is past.
Please help this cultural treasure of Austin survive this difficult time. We would be extremely grateful for a donation of any size so the studio can keep serving our community.
Funding Priority
1) Emergency Operating Funds ($18,000)
2) Hardship Scholarships ($5000)
3) Debt Already Incurred to Continue Operations ($11,800)
Thank you so very much,
Friends of Slavin Nadal
