Help Slade beat Neuroblastoma

Slade’s Story

Today we received heart wrenching news that my sweet 15 month old nephew has a form of Neuroblastoma cancer. The entire family is devastated.

When Slade was 6 months, my sister in law, Logan, and her husband, Will, found out that Slade had a horseshoe kidney so they went to Children’s Hospital to have it checked. During the exam, the doctor noticed one ureter leading to the kidney was more dilated and recommended a follow up appointment in 3 months.

Fast forward to their most recent appointment two weeks ago where Slade’s doctor looked at his kidney on an ultrasound. She found a baseball sized tumor.

Doctors ordered more tests and told Logan and Will the heartbreaking news that it was likely cancer. After two CT scans, blood work, urinalysis, and an MRI angiogram, the doctors seem to have made a diagnosis. Stage 1 neuroblastoma.

Slade will undergo surgery before the end of next week to remove as much of the tumor as possible or biopsy it if it’s attached to the horseshoe kidney. Biopsy results will tell us exactly what form of Neuroblastoma he has as well as where it’s coming from. If they are unable to remove the tumor due to risk of harming his kidney they will proceed with chemotherapy with the first goal being to shrink the tumor and then surgery to remove it at a later date.

At this moment Logan and Will’s entire world has been turned upside down. They are only at the very beginning stages of a long road ahead. I ask that you pray for them, and especially for their sweet baby boy, Slade. Please pray for his health and strength to fight. Also, please pray for his two sisters, Addison (3) and Ayla (7),  who won’t understand what’s happening, and will miss all the attention from Mom and Dad.

Thank you for your continued prayers, and if you’re able, please consider making a donation to help cover Slade’s medical bills as well as support the family through this financial burden.
