Memorial and Helping Uncle Ron!
Donation protected
We are still trying to hit our goal so our Uncle Ron Slack can get back on his feet and back to work. Gay service was so nice thanks to all the donations it wouldn't have happened. Thanks so much for all the help and Support. Means the world to our family. We are looking to get my Ron's truck fixed, so can start back work. He needs to keep busy to keep his mind off things. If anyone works on cars on the side would be a great help.

Lunch to immediately follow the Memorial Service at Hicks Hall 709 4th ave. , Rochelle, IL 61068 Gay's memorial Services will be at Methodist Church Rochelle, IL September 13th at 1pm. Update 8/24- They moved my aunt Gay to Serenity/Hospice in Oregon. Update on my mom- Rewind it back to last week at UW.. We were told that the highest level of chemo she could receive would help her survival rate go up to a year. The chemo would also kill her. So that was not an option. The cancer has now spread to her brain. She had two rounds of radiation, but could not continue. Her health has declined rapidly in the couple days. This nasty disease called Stage 4 pancreatic cancer has grown and progressed in her pancreas, liver, bones, spine, lungs and to the brain. In just a few weeks we have seen a rapid change. We made the decision as a family to have hospice come to the home. We are granting my mom’s wishes of being at home and not in the hospital for her final days on earth. I will leave you with this side piece..My mom has been the least selfish person I have ever met. When she found out from Dr.Turk at UW it was indeed our greatest fear- she cried harder knowing she could no longer be an organ donor in her lifetime. That she could no longer help another human if she were to pass away one day. That is a testimony of the life she has lived. I am blessed to have had her not only as my best friend, but my mom. Proverbs 3:5 -Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding from Family. **************************** Update 1- I really need your help friends , today the news was not good . My father has spent the last 4 years trying to take care of my mothers mystery illness . Which we all know now is stage 4 pancreatic cancer . There are Unfortunately no options for any treatments . I’ll be forward and say we are talking weeks possibly a month or two at best . My father during this past several years has basically had to cancel jobs , projects etc . Couldn’t work consistently because of trying to take care of my mother . The truth is they are penniless and have been for some time . My father gets $1200 per month social security and that’s about the extent of their means . They live in a tiny one bedroom apartment and drive a very old car ( just don’t want anyone thinking they are looking for handouts or exploiting like some people do on go fund me ) the last thing they would do is ask for any help if they had any means . Really what we are trying to accomplish at this point is a very modest funeral so my father can lay his wife of 44 years to rest when that time comes in the near future . My sister and I do give and help as best that we can to my parents . The truth is even a modest funeral is around 7k , they unfortunately do not have a life insurance policy on my mother . I would never ask anyone for financial help if we had a realistic time to raise funds for her funeral on our own . It’s just impossible at this point to raise that amount for a funeral. We are not looking for 35k and never really were .. we are trying to raise enough for her funeral 7k-10k and to cover a few bills that are out of control as well as the cost of end of life care medicines that insurance will not cover etc . No money will be miss-used or go for anything except necessities for end of life care and funeral expenses . Please help even $5 helps ************************** This page is set up for my Daughter Gay Slack Rochelle, IL area. Gay Slack, a great mother, wife, daughter, sister and aunt has been in severe pain for 4 months. The Slack Family have kept this private until now. After many Doctor and ER visits trying to find why. The pain has turned out to be what is our greatest fear terminal cancer. She has stage 4 Pancreatic. Gay is only 59 years old and has been married to the love of her life Ron for 44 years. Her Husband Ron continues to show is unconditional love to her. He has and is taking care of her day to day needs. I have never met a man like Ron before, he would take off his shirt for someone in need. This is so hard on him. He has been trying to make sure gets all the help she needs. However, with car repairs, gas, tolls, and missing work is taking toll on them. She also has two Adult children Jessica Ross and Chad Slack. Both Jessica and Chad are trying help take of both mom and dad also. This has been very hard on them both. Due to having kids of their own trying to juggle work, kids, and Mother's doctor’s appointment, etc. They have been having to drive to UW to see an oncologist which is 100 miles one way. They are hoping to get her strong enough to do a procedure to block the pain. She has several masses on her liver, esophagus, pancreatic and other areas. They are hoping to get her to eat more, so can do the procedure. In hopes can start chemo to prolong her life some. Also Gay doesn't have Life Insurance either. We are hoping People could help our Family out. Also, prayers, and emotional support means the world to our Family! If you are also able to offer financial support to help defray the cost of treatment and the miscellaneous expenses. If would like to help in other ways please reach out to me.
