Help Sky's Dog Olive Beat Heartworm

This fundraiser is for my daughter, Sky, and her adopted dog, Olive. Olive is Sky’s whole world in Boston and is, in a way, her therapy dog.

Olive is a 1 year old lab/golden mix rescued from a shelter in Arkansas and transported to Boston, where Sky adopted her in October 2023. She is a sweet, playful girl who loves to train, eat, play fetch with her tennis ball, and run around with other dogs.

In October 2024, after a routine test, she was found to be Heartworm positive. She likely got it in Arkansas, but it was not far along enough to test positive then. She has been on preventatives every month, but with her unknown past and Southern origin, she carried risk of having already contracted HW.

Treatment will be very intensive, and it will be very hard on Olive. She has insurance, but her insurance does not cover Heartworm treatment, so it will also be very costly. We are currently looking at about 4-6 months of treatment and recovery.
