Help Skylynn After a Tragic First Day of School Accident

Donation protected
On what should have been an exciting first day of 7th grade, our sweet Skylynn, 12, was struck and dragged by a car while walking home from River View Middle School in Kaukauna. She had been so excited to start the year — especially her social studies class, filled with Harry Potter decorations, her favorite.

According to her and her brother’s account, Skylynn thought the driver had stopped for her. As she crossed, she was hit and pulled under the car, dragged over 60 feet until bystanders flagged the driver down. Men at the scene lifted the vehicle to free her.

Her backpack saved her life. It became wedged between the tire and wheel well, preventing the car from pulling her completely under. The driver, not realizing she had hit Skylynn, kept going until people rushed to stop her.

Skylynn spent the night in the pediatric unit and faces an uncertain recovery. Her injuries include severe road burns across her shoulders, back, ankles, and feet, as well as swelling and pain in her legs and feet. The full extent of her healing time is unknown.

Her mom and dad, both just starting new jobs, are unable to take FMLA leave, yet must dedicate themselves to Skylynn’s recovery, doctor visits, and specialist appointments. With ongoing care needs adding up it’s getting overwhelming.

Skylynn is a bright, kind-hearted girl who always worries about others before herself. Now, she needs our community to rally around her.

We are asking for donations to help ease the challenges on her family so they can focus on Skylynn’s healing. Every dollar will go toward living expenses and her care, recovery, and support. If you cannot donate, please share her story so others can help.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your love, support, and prayers for Skylynn during this unimaginable time.
