Help Skylor's Family Through This Tragic Time
Donation protected
On December 21, 2024, at approximately 7 AM, Officer Skylor Strickland, following his night shift, was en route to get some sleep when his patrol vehicle unfortunately left the road, resulting in a tragic accident that many would not have been able to walk away from. His vehicle became airborne, rolling multiple times before coming to rest and catching fire. Skylor truly had a Christmas angel on his shoulder as he demonstrated remarkable resilience by managing to free himself and crawl to safety until he was unable to move any further. Fellow first responders arrived quickly, extinguished the fire, and attended to Officer Strickland's medical needs, then swiftly got him to UAB Hospital, where he will remain in ICU with multiple serious injuries.
I am instantly familiar with the details of this accident and Officer Strickland's personal circumstances, as he is my eldest son. Skylor is a dedicated Gadsden City police officer and 11B infantryman with the Army National Guard. Skylor is newly wed, with just over a year of marriage, and recently welcomed a new baby boy at the end of July 2024; he is the sole provider for his beautiful little family.
As a mother, my heart is breaking to see him facing this difficult situation, especially during what should be a joyous time - his baby son's first Christmas with his young family. He will not be able to work for several months. While lying in his hospital bed, his biggest fear is what will happen to his family without being able to work. Skylor has always worked hard, taking great pride in his service to his family, community, and country. This season should be filled with joy and happy memories with his newly built family, but instead, it has been met with tragedy.
I'm asking if possible if you can make a donation for my son Skylor; no matter the amount, it will be greatly appreciated. I know how the holiday season can be financially challenging, and if you were unable to donate, please say a prayer for his recovery.
God bless, and thank you!
Sincerely, Skylor's mother.
