This is the Mann-Mcgriff family and this was their home. This was a home where 9 year old Skylar McGriff, her Grandparents, Mel and Maura, and their 2 dogs came together to laugh, love, learn, rest, and re-energize after a busy day of school, work and life. Just a few days ago (On Friday, May 7th), within a blink of an eye and without warning, their home was lost due to a horrific fire that spread ferociously in their home and across the roof, destroying almost everything in its path. What was once a home, is now a condemned structure awaiting a new life.
We are Mel and Maura's next-door neighbors (George and Deb Peterson, Dan and Marianne Martel), and are writing this on Mel and Maura's behalf. We are incredibly grateful to the first responders, police and fire department who helped contain the fire and kept the family and neighborhood safe. We are also eternally grateful for the community coming together so quickly to help in a time of need. A very BIG THANK YOU to all of those who helped, including those who are asking how they can help.
Mel and Maura are very kind and altruistic, going out of their way to help others in need, and never ask for anything in return. Their character in doing the right thing and helping others has made an impression on us all.
In light of. this, we are creating a GoFundMe page, and are asking for your help. The family is distraught from losing their home, and are in need of financial assistance. They will likely be displaced for at least a year. We don't realize how much we need something until its gone. And even the little things add up to be quite expensive.
Your compassionate donations will be greatly appreciated and will go towards helping Skyler, Maura and Mel get through this difficult time and rebuild. Hopefully by next year, and with your help, they will move into a new house that they can, once again, call home.
Sincerely
George, Deb, Dan and Marianne
