Help Skylar Purchase Her Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber

Donation protected
Skylar was born on the 13th of September 2022 sustaining a Severe Hypoxic Encephalopathy (HIE) and no swallow reflex.
She spent Two months in hospital fighting to thrive.
As soon as we could get her out of hospital, we started the therapies.

I had done all the research and knew that early intervention was key to giving her every chance possible.
We are very blessed to have such an amazing therapeutic support team for Skylar.

Unfortunately all the therapies Skylar was participating in were taking its toll. I’m so thankful for this realization. When anyone struggles to breathe and cannot manage their airway, they struggle to do anything else. This was the case for Skylar.
We scaled back therapies early this year to reassess where to direct Skylar’s treatment.
I am always researching everything possible to help her in her recovery and one of the big things I came across was hyperbaric oxygen chamber therapy.
This year we have been able to comprise more information about this therapy.
The only medical grade hyperbaric chamber is located on the Gold Coast and we are currently 2 1/2 hours drive from there. Due to the risk of travel for Skylar, displacement to support workers and us, it is not viable to travel down to the Gold Coast.
Skylar requires minimum of 3 x 60 minute sessions per week ongoing for at least 2-3 Years.
But there is good news!!!
We have been given the option of purchasing our own chamber for our home at a cost of $50’000 so that Skylar can start hyperbaric therapy and then ideally start taking part in therapies again, contributing to her quality of life and ability to overcome any obstacles.

Skylar needs 24/7 Airway Management and Suction to maintain her airway, there is no option to leave her alone for even a short period of time.

Our ultimate goal which we feel is possible is to reverse the damage done by the hypoxia to enable her to manage her airway which would be an incredible feet.
She even had 3 assisted swallows last year at NAPA and has shown lots of potential in her other therapies, so anything is possible.

Please help us so we can purchase this essential piece of equipment to provide further opportunities for Skylar to show us what she’s got!

The additional funds will go towards her other medical needs which are not covered by NDIS or QLD Health.
