I welcomed Skye into my life as a foster back in September, and she quickly became a beloved member of our family. Living on a small hobby farm, Skye has brought so much joy and companionship to our home, and I couldn’t imagine life without her.
On Friday afternoon, as I was getting ready to leave for work, I let my two pups out for a quick potty break. In just a few minutes, Skye ventured into the pig pen and must have startled the pig. I’m not entirely sure what happened, but the result was devastating. Skye suffered eight puncture wounds on her side from the pig biting her, and the wounds are all connecting through the tissues, which required her to have drain tubes put in to help with the fluids. To make matters worse, she also has three fractures in her back right foot that will need orthopedic surgery or possibly even amputation. Her recovery will be long, with many upcoming vet visits and ongoing care.
Right now, Skye needs 24/7 care. She cannot walk, has a large splint on her back leg, and stitches on her front leg. The costs for her emergency vet bills, surgery, and aftercare are overwhelming, and as times are tough, I’m reaching out for help. Donating to Skye’s road of recovery would mean the world to us. Any support, whether through a donation or by sharing our story, would be greatly appreciated as we help Skye heal and get back to the happy, loving dog she’s always been.
