We are reaching out to ask for support for our beautiful Skye, who is facing the fight of her life.
Three years ago, Skye’s world changed forever when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. In a heartbreaking twist of fate, she received her diagnosis just one day after losing her aunty, someone she was incredibly close to, to the very same disease. They were close not only in age, but in bond, and that loss deeply shaped Skye’s journey from the beginning.
At the time, Skye’s cancer was considered manageable and treatable. She underwent surgery to remove a Grade 1 tumour and bravely faced a mastectomy. After witnessing her aunty go through every treatment available and still sadly lose her battle, Skye made the deeply personal decision not to pursue chemotherapy or radiotherapy herself.
Instead, over the last three years, Skye worked incredibly hard to live as holistically and healthily as possible, doing everything she could to support her body naturally and maintain the best quality of life she could.
Sadly, her cancer has now progressed to Stage 4, and she has been told that without treatment, her prognosis could be as little as 6–12 months.
Faced with this reality, Skye has made the brave decision to begin chemotherapy & radiotherapy a step she once never thought she would take. Her hope is that this treatment will help improve her quality of life, give her more time, and allow her the opportunity to continue making precious memories with the people she loves.
Alongside chemotherapy, Skye remains committed to her holistic approach and wants to continue exploring complementary therapies and specialist care that may help improve her quality of life and give her the best possible chance moving forward.
One of the opportunities she is hoping to pursue is treatment and specialist care at a renowned hospital abroad. This offers treatments and support that are not readily available to her at home, but unfortunately they come at a significant financial cost and are not covered by the NHS. Alongside this, Skye hopes to attend a wellness retreat, where she can focus on healing, nutrition, holistic therapies and recovery in a supportive environment.
Because of her condition, Skye has been unable to work, making it incredibly difficult to access these additional treatments and opportunities. It has also taken away much of her independence and financial freedom at a time when she should be able to focus entirely on herself and her health.
We know our fundraising target may seem high, but it reflects the reality of the costs involved. Between specialist consultations and treatment overseas, travel and accommodation, holistic therapies, and supporting Skye while she is unable to work, the financial burden is far greater than our family can manage alone.
This fundraiser isn’t about chasing false hope, it’s about giving Skye the opportunity to explore every avenue available to her, access specialist care, improve her quality of life, and continue fighting on her own terms.
The funds raised will help towards:
* Specialist treatment and consultations
* Travel and accommodation for overseas treatment
* A wellness retreat focused on healing and wellbeing
* Holistic and complementary therapies to support her alongside chemotherapy
* Everyday living costs while she is unable to work, allowing her to focus on her health without the added stress of financial pressure
Skye’s diagnosis may be devastating, but one thing is certain, she is not going down without a fight.
She is determined to keep exploring every possible avenue to extend her time, improve her quality of life, and continue living on her own terms. Whether that’s through chemotherapy, holistic therapies, specialist treatment abroad, or simply making the most of every day she has, Skye is choosing hope, courage and resilience in the face of the unknown.
This fundraiser is about giving her that chance, the chance to fight, to heal, to make memories, and to keep living as fully and freely as she can.
We don’t know what the future holds, but what we do know is that Skye is not ready to give up and neither are we.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help give her more options, more time, and more freedom in this fight. If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing Skye’s story would mean the world to us.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking the time to read Skye’s story and for supporting her in any way you can. Every act of kindness, whether it’s a donation, a share, or simply keeping Skye in your thoughts, means more than words can say. Skye isn’t quite ready to talk about her story at the moment, so we please ask that you don’t contact her directly, any of the family would be more than happy to receive any well wishes.
