Give Sky a Second Chance
Many of you know our sweet cat Sky and how much he means to our family. To many people he is "just a cat," but to us, Sky is our furry baby and a huge part of our family.
Sky has been with us since before we became parents to our son. He's our spoiled little boy, our cuddle buddy, and a constant source of love and comfort. He sleeps in our bed, follows us around the house, greets us at the door, and has a special bond with every member of our family. Our neighbors across the street have grown to love him as well, and he never misses a chance to stop by and say hello.
On April 13, 2026, Sky was hit by a car near our home while making one of his usual neighborhood visits. He spent the first 10 days hospitalized in an emergency veterinary clinic, receiving around-the-clock care and treatment for his injuries. Once he was stable enough to come home, he continued recovery through frequent veterinary visits every 3–4 days for bandage changes, monitoring, and additional treatments.
The injuries to his leg were far more severe than anyone had hoped. After six weeks of fighting to save his leg—including two surgeries, multiple wound care procedures, middle-of-the-night emergency visits to treat complications, and every possible effort by his veterinary team—we received the heartbreaking news that amputation had become the best option for his survival and long-term quality of life.
As difficult as that decision was, we are incredibly grateful that Sky is alive, and we hope to have him around for as long as possible.
Sky's right leg was amputated on June 2, 2026. He is now beginning the next phase of his recovery at home with us, resting comfortably and adjusting to his new reality one day at a time. While cats can adapt to life on three legs, he still faces a long road ahead, including blood work, medications, follow-up appointments, wound care, rehabilitation, and months of recovery.
The financial burden has become overwhelming. Our veterinary expenses have already reached nearly $8.5k and continue to grow as Sky receives the care he needs. We never imagined being in this position, but we are doing everything we can to give him the chance to heal and enjoy many more happy years with our family.
Despite everything he has been through, Sky continues to amaze us with his resilience, and we are hopeful that he will adapt well to life on three legs.
If you can help, any donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward Sky's medical care and recovery.
If donating isn't possible, sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to us.
Thank you for your kindness, support, prayers, and encouragement during this difficult time for our family.
With gratitude,
Kate, Oleks, Ian, and Sky ❤️
