Help Save Baby Siya’s Life
My name is Mehulkumar Thakkar
I am living in Melbourne, and I’m writing this for My sister, Khyati Thakkar, and her husband, Ronak.
we all love more than anything: their 8-month-old daughter, Siya.
Siya was born in November 2024, filling our lives with joy, laughter, and dreams of a bright future. But at just 6 months old, our world was turned upside down. Siya was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1 — a rare and devastating genetic condition that robs babies of the ability to move, swallow, and eventually breathe.
Without treatment, most children with SMA Type 1 do not live beyond their second birthday.
There is hope — a groundbreaking one-time gene therapy called Zolgensma, the world’s most expensive medicine. Given early, it can stop the progression of SMA and even reverse some damage. But it comes at an unimaginable cost: ₹9 Crores (≈ AUD 1.59 million).
So far, thanks to the kindness of people around the world, we’ve raised ₹2.5 Crores (≈ AUD 441,258). We still need ₹6.5 Crores (≈ AUD 1.15 million) to give Siya the chance she deserves.
You can help save Siya’s life. Whether through a donation, sharing her story, or simply spreading the word, every gesture counts. Your support could be the reason Siya takes her first steps, speaks her first words, and grows up surrounded by love.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Mehul Thakkar
On behalf of Ronak, Khyati, and baby Siya
