Home for the Holidays: Please Help Six Families Who Lost Their Home in a Devastating Fire
On December 19, the community at Cedar Ridge Apartments in Reston, Virginia was devastated by an apartment fire. Six units of the 3-story building were ravaged by the fire, and six families, including several single mothers and their children, have lost their homes in the heart of the holiday season.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire, and all members of the community are safe. However, these residents have lost so much: their homes, their belongings and food, and their memories held in those spaces. Cedar Ridge Apartments is Section 8 Housing, and as such, many of its residents did not have, and cannot afford, renter's insurance. Each individual family is looking at thousands of dollars of expenses ahead, including the cost of transitional housing.
As you can imagine, the relocation and legal processes are moving very slowly despite these families immediate need. Whatever we are able to raise with your support will be distributed between the six affected families.
Every donation helps - no matter how small. We thank you for your consideration and generosity to help our community rebuild after this loss.
