Sivaprasad Neelur, my B.Tech classmate, is facing every parent’s worst nightmare. Just a few weeks ago, his joyful 5-year-old son suddenly began having trouble walking and using his limbs. What seemed like a minor balance issue quickly escalated, and after urgent scans and surgery, doctors diagnosed Large Cell Anaplastic Medulloblastoma (WHO Grade 4), a rare and aggressive brain cancer that affects children. The child has already undergone major brain surgery to remove the tumor and is now under close medical care. The surgery was critical and lifesaving, but it is only the first step. Doctors have advised intensive treatment, including radiation therapy and chemotherapy over the coming months, to prevent the cancer from returning. Because of the child’s young age, doctors are also evaluating advanced radiation options to reduce long-term damage to the brain and spine.
The cost of treatment is overwhelming for Sivaprasad’s family. Between brain surgery and ICU care, ongoing hospitalisation, radiation therapy, multiple cycles of chemotherapy, rehabilitation, and long-term follow-up, the total cost is far beyond what the family can manage alone. The funds raised will help cover these critical medical expenses and give Sivaprasad’s son the best chance at recovery. There is also a fundraiser for the same cause on Milaap (https://milaap.org/fundraisers/support-child-of-sivaprasad). Any support received here will be combined with the Milaap fundraiser to help reach the total needed for treatment.
We are doing everything possible, emotionally and financially, but we cannot do this without support. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference. Please consider donating and sharing this fundraiser to help Sivaprasad’s family through this incredibly difficult time. Your kindness and generosity will mean the world to them.
