The flute students of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) have been invited to perform at this summer’s National Flute Association Annual Convention in Portland, Oregon—an incredible honor and a testament to their hard work and artistry.
The flute choir will present a unique and exciting program featuring music written exclusively for low flutes, showcasing the rich and often underrepresented sounds of the flute family. The performance will also include the world premiere of a new work by Dr. Shelly Monier, SIUE’s flute professor, making this opportunity even more special and meaningful for the students involved.
While this invitation is a prestigious achievement, attending the convention comes with significant expenses, including travel, lodging, and registration fees. These costs can be a barrier for many of our dedicated student musicians.
We are asking for your support to help make this opportunity possible. Your donation will directly assist in reducing the financial burden on these students, allowing them to represent SIUE on a national stage, share their music, and gain invaluable professional experience.
Please consider contributing to help these talented musicians get to Portland. Every gift—no matter the size—makes a meaningful difference.
Thank you for supporting the future of music.
