October 5, 2024, the Mattison’s lives changed in an instant. Sister’s Ireland and Lilian, and 3 of their friends were in a serious car accident while on their way to a football game. Someone cut them off, causing a crash at nearly 50 mph. While Ireland, and a front-seat passenger have been released from the hospital, Lilian and two others in the backseat were not as fortunate.

Lilian, sustained deep facial lacerations, internal injuries, and a broken back. Lilian underwent multiple surgeries, including exploratory abdominal surgery to stop internal bleeding and repair damage to her intestines, colon, duodenum, and pancreas. She then had emergency spinal fusion surgery, where rods and pins were placed in her spine. She also had plastic surgery for deep facial lacerations. This week Lilian is taking steps with a walker but remains in significant pain. She will soon move to a rehabilitation facility where she will begin intensive physical therapy. She’ll need ongoing care, and 24/7 nursing support as she recovers.

Her sister Ireland returned to the E.R. the day after she was released to find that she had a fractured sternum and bruised ribs and was held for monitoring for internal bleeding before again being released. This will no doubt be a struggle physically and emotionally as Ireland continues to work to complete her master’s degree at Arizona State University.

Lilian is a mother and a warrior and needs your help and support at this time. Please pray for all of the girl’s quick recovery, particularly Lily, so she can be reunited with her baby girl soon.

We can't even begin to imagine the financial burden this will take on Lilian, Ireland and their family in the immediate future.
