Help Sister Faegala

In a year of collective suffering, our dear Sister Faegala has had to do one of the hardest things known to empathetic beings.  Like many of us she has had to say goodbye to a loved one.  On 4.25.21 at 9:25 pm Fae’s husband and partner Michael was ushered by the nuns of the above through the veil.

This is a call to action to the digital bucket.  Sisters, guards, and saints the penny drive has begun.
When we see a sister with a bucket, we all know what to do.

Sister Faegala is facing a mountain of bills and costs after losing her household's primary breadwinner: Hospital bills, hospice bills, Medical care, nursing, as well as the interrupted construction and costs for remaking her home so that she may rent the top floor of her home for survival income.

We consider Faegala a grandmother, a friend, and an irreverent mentor.  As I said, we have all experienced deep losses this year.  If you are able, we ask that you make a monetary contribution to aid our dear sister as she transitions into her new life.   


Your donations will target the following areas:


1) Hospital/medical bills and other care not covered by insurance 

2) Home health care 

3) Hospice care 

4) Medications 

5) Home health aid/nurse 

6) End of life/cremation 

7) Deep cleaning and disinfecting home

8) Any remaining funds will go to help convert Faegals home so she has personal living space and a rent able space.

I love Sister Faegala as my Sister, my friend, as chosen family, and like so many around the world, as someone I trust and turn to for guidance and advice. Our friendship developed and deepened through traveling and visiting Sisters and Houses (we still have many more to visit!) every chance we could. I think I always knew that Faegala was married, and I was amazed, inspired, and thankful that her partner Michael was so supportive of our sheNUNigans. Eventually, I had the JOY of being invited to stay with her and Michael at their home and I came to understand how much balance and love each gave to the other.

Michael was her “Aries Genius” who wrote incredibly researched books and also shared a wit and sense of humor that is rare and cherished. We’d compare overlapping genealogy notes as I explored my ancestry and Faegala would recount names, cities, and dates from Michael’s lineage in Europe. I believe Faegala knew more about Michael’s family history than maybe Michael did! And perhaps smaller but truly beautiful examples of their love can be found in the daily routines they shared like morning coffee in bed, eating lunch together, going to trivia, enjoying classical music, and much more.

For most of my life, I didn’t see examples of couples who lived like this. Who loved like this. And this profound love shared by Faegala and Michael spans more than 2 decades, and is now in a transition with Michael’s passing…it doesn’t go away…and it gives a bit of comfort to recognize that. I know that Sister Faegala is surrounded by love, has a deeply supportive community, and that a world filled with Sisters can activate right now in this time of loss, grief, and uncertainty.

Michael’s passing came about quickly, leaving very little time for preparations to be made, for end of life planning to take place, and for future plans to be considered for Faegala. If you are in a position to contribute to this fundraiser, this effort is to directly assist with medical costs associated with Michael’s care, hospice, end of life and memorial fees, as well as helping Faegala prepare for life moving forward.
