My name is Sherri Kitchens, and one of the special ladies from church that my family has known for 25 years is reaching out to you today with heavy hearts to ask for your prayers and support for our beloved church mother, Sister Bennie Byers. Sister Bennie, an 81-year-old mother, grandmother, and devoted caregiver, was the victim of a tragic attack by the family dog early this morning. Around 9 AM, her son heard a commotion in the house and, in a desperate effort to save his mother’s life, had to break in through a window. He was also bitten by the dog during the rescue.

Sister Bennie was rushed to Shanda Hospital, where she is currently undergoing emergency surgery to save her life. Her family is still waiting for animal control to respond, and we are all deeply shaken by this traumatic event.
