Help Give Sissy the Life She Fought So Hard For...
It all started with a picture of a dog on Big Bones Rescue site. There was something about her appearance and that perfect imperfect face and her story....
When Sissy was rescued, she didn’t know what love felt like.
She came from a life of neglect in the most inhumane hoarding situation... underfed, overlooked, and unsure of the world around her. The very people who were supposed to protect her had let her down. Sissy was found living in 6 inches of feces in an outdoor pen with an absurd amount of dogs...barely fed...missing half her mouth...for years. She flinched at loud sounds and was always looking for a corner to find safety.
She didn’t understand toys. She didn’t know that couches were for naps or that grass was for rolling in...but she learned!
Slowly, bravely, beautifully over the years she learned how to be a dog.
Sissy learned that humans can be kind. She learned that tails are meant to wag. She learned how to play, how to snuggle, and how to trust again! Watching her discover joy in the simple things like belly rubs, squeaky toys, sunshine through a window has been nothing short of a miracle.
Now that her life is what it always should have been, we received devastating news...She has cancer. Sissy has 9 cm chemodectoma heart base mass
Radiation therapy will not just extend her time, but it will give her quality of life...a life that she has fought hard to have. It will allow her to live out the rest of her natural life comfortably, surrounded by love, safety, and the happiness she struggled so hard to claim.
Sissy survived neglect. She survived fear. She survived frozen winters out in the elements. She survived heartbreak and pain. Sissy's face now has light in her eyes and a perfect imperfect smile.
Now she needs help to survive this!
I am asking for your support to help cover the cost of radiation treatments and ongoing care. Every donation, no matter the size, brings her closer to more tail wags, more cuddles, more ordinary dog days that she once never thought she would have.
If you can’t donate, please consider sharing Sissy's story. Your kindness and love mean the world to us and to a dog who finally knows what love feels like.
Thank you for helping give her the life she deserves.❤️
Sissy's mom has always been the one others turn to in a crisis. Both professionally and personally, Anna is the first to step up whether organizing fundraisers, finding resources, or showing up for families and animals in need. She has spent years helping others carry their burdens or helping to make a wish or dream come true be that through organizations such as Make-a-Wish or GoFundMe's she has initiated for others in need. Now, Anna is the one who needs help...to be able to help her baby. A day one bond grew between these two, and love without measure has grown between them. Sissy gives love to her mom and all she encounters. So, let’s surround Anna and Sissy with the same compassion, generosity, and unwavering support she has so freely given to others. Every prayer, every share, and every contribution is a reminder that when love is poured out selflessly, it always finds its way back home.
