On the night of July 11th, our beloved cat, Sissy, developed a lump on the center of her right eyeball. We knew we had to take her to the vet, but she was still acting normally -- our happy, purring Sissy. We thought we had more time to get her to her usual vet, who only works on Fridays.

By the next night, she rapidly deteriorated. She was hissing at our other cats, hiding in her cat tower, and screaming whenever anybody touched her. The next morning (as our closest emergency vet is REALLY bad), we took her to a vet urgent care clinic about 20 minutes away. The vet there immediately identified the problem - Sissy's eye had ruptured from an old injury she got when she was a kitten.

After many phone calls and tears, believing she would need her eye completely removed, we were able to get her to an emergency vet that could perform the surgery to save her eye.

She ended up needing a conjunctival pedicle graft on her right eye, and cherry eye pocket replacement (the cherry eye, something very rare in cats, developed earlier this year, and the vet thought it was worth fixing now while she was already under).

The bills so far total to a little over $7,000. We live paycheck to paycheck, and this unforeseen medical emergency has completely devastated our financial situation.

We are usually not the type of family to ask for help from anyone, in any capacity, but Sissy needs us, and right now, we need all the help we can get.

Any funds we are able to raise from this will go directly to Sissy's vet bills.
