Hi everyone, I’m Sirius’s parent and recently on one of his early morning walks outside and came back to the door with a dead tail. I immediately knew something was wrong when I couldn’t see the little crook he has at the end of his tail hobbling towards me.

I took him to the emergency vet where they took his x-rays and told me to come back if his pain wasn’t soothed. He was calm inside for a couple of days, then as I got home one day I could see he was visibly irritated and licking/gnawing his tail. The emergency vet told me to bring him in immediately if that happens and that he was probably in a cat fight where he got bit, with abscesses forming. They did as much as they could with what I could afford at the time, cleaning and draining the wounds, but I need to go back to get it checked out again and Sirius needs a refill of his medication. I was told that if his infection doesn’t get better he might have to have a tail amputation.

I made this fundraiser because I’m struggling to get by with 2 jobs, being a full time student, paying my bills, and having my car’s catalytic converter stolen again in the past week. I have commitments that I have to budget for and if I am able to take care of my boy, those things will become a lot easier to handle. He is one of my top priorities.

As of now, Sirius is on a pain medication and antibiotics for his infection. The vet will give me the next steps at his next appointment. He is moving his tail a bit, running around the apartment with his cone head, not knowing what to do with himself. I would much rather not have to post this, but Sirius and I would appreciate any and all support we receive, even just sharing means everything.
