Everybody has a bad year sometimes, but this past year has been truly awful for my dear friends Siri Sahib Singh, his wife Ram Prakash Kaur and their daughter, Guru Kirtan. Since falling ill last summer, Siri Sahib Singh has been diagnosed with debilitating gastrointestinal inflammation. This is a severe, ongoing illness - he has been in and out of the hospital and emergency rooms for the past three months and now requires 24/7 care when at home. Ram Prakash Kaur is now unable to work at her profession (esthetician) due to caring for her husband. Ram Prakash's elderly mother also lives with them, and requires their care as well. Their bills are daunting, to say the least...but they are keeping up the best they can.
A devoted dharmic family, married 40+ years, they've attended Summer Solstice almost every year it's been held. These are people who've helped people in every way they could, and still do. They took in Atma Kaur (GRDA Sevadar) and her daughter Savitri, (and Bibiji's nephew, and my daughter and I) when they needed a place to stay. They were an integral part of the Khalsa Day Care group 20+ years ago. Siri Sahib Singh was the assistant Troop Leader for my daughter's Girl Scout Troop for five years. He's coached archery for his daughter's High School, driven carpools, repaired and built computers, built houses and torn them down. Ram Prakash has served clientele all over California and beyond with her special skincare techniques. (She's also that friend who's made me laugh so hard in the movies they made us sit away from each other!)
Please help them they way in every way you can. Share your stories about your friendship and help them get back on their feet. Thank you and bless you for all you do.
