On September 9th, my sister and I took our cat Siren to the vet because we discovered a large, hard lump on her chest. After some x-rays, we were told that Siren needs surgery immediately. The mass appears to be growing aggressively and is dangerously close to one of her lungs which makes this a life-threatening situation. The estimate we were given for her surgery is $2,600-$3,100 on top of the $670 that we already paid for her blood tests and x-rays. They want to get her in for the procedure on Monday, September 15th but unfortunately, we just don’t have those kinds of funds readily available. It’s really hard for us to ask people for help in this way but we just want to do everything we can to try to save our sweet girl.

Siren is only 8 years old with so much more life left to live. I rescued her from a kill shelter when she was 3 years old after falling in love with her photo on their website. I was told she had behavioral issues and was returned to the shelter by the last people who adopted her, but I was prepared to love and care for her no matter what. I was so surprised when she arrived and we bonded instantly, she trusted me completely as if she understood that I was on her side. Since then, she’s been my best friend. She’s the sweetest (and sometimes spiciest) little girl and has been my biggest comfort through the hardest times in my life, including the death of my father in 2020. I don’t know what I’d do without her.
