Hello, my name is Jodi Williams.
My sweet puppy, “Sir Balou Underfoot”, pulled a Houdini and escaped his yard. He is a 22-week-old Malinois mix. He was hit by a car across the street from our yard while trying to swim in the irrigation canal.
I am asking for help paying his medical bills.
I work as a caregiver for I.H.S.S. in California. My main client of 10 years passed away in January of this year, so now I am down to 26.5 hours a week from 66 hours a week. I have maxed out every card I have trying to cover these costs, of which there have been many. Two separate emergency vets on a weekend, the second being UC Davis Small Animal Clinic! So far, I am $12,000 into this venture, but he is alive and whole!
Originally, my plan was to train him as a search and rescue animal. The doctors say that may still be possible, but he has a long road ahead. He is home and healing but has to be activity restricted for 8 weeks after surgery. So far, he is dealing with being kenneled 23.5 hours a day fairly well. This dog is my whole world. He is what has kept me going after losing my best friend and boss of 10+ years to cancer this January. Please, if you can help or at least share our story, it would be greatly appreciated. I have been sharing regular updates on my Facebook page. Anything helps. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this far and sharing on any platform you frequent!
(Update) Balou is healing up nicely. He is up and about and the cone comes of this week. He is still on movement restriction for 6 1/2 more weeks but he is happy.

Puppy Update: Balou is healing! He is walking without assistance now and out of the cone of shame. He still has a long way to go! 5 more weeks of lock down movement restriction. He can only be out of his Kennel to go potty the Dr says 2 five min walks a day kennel the rest of the time… He is not to Happy to be locked up but it’s for his own good. Thank You to everyone who has donated and shared everything helps. Below the updated photos show all the different bills, from the multiple vets he has seen. The largest of course was the surgery at U.C. Davis! Still to me he is worth every penny! All funds received have gone directly towards vet bills incurred.
