HELP SAVE SIOMAR’s LIFE
Martyn and I want to help our friend, Julian. Julian’s mother, Siomar, is sick in Colombia. She has a very severe bacterial infection which has resulted in losing her teeth, but worse, her jawbone is horribly infected. She urgently needs further treatment, which involves surgery and heavy duty antibiotics. Without this, the infection is going to spread to her brain and body. She has been told she is going to die without further intervention. To get the needed specialized treatment she must pay first. This is the system in Columbia. We want to help Julian to raise the funds to pay for this treatment.
Siomar is only 55 years old and has three teenage sons and her mother to care for at home. Her father was murdered in Colombia and so there is no-one to support them. Julian, the oldest son, financially supported them before coming to the US to escape persecution. His case is going through the immigration services and he has a legal work permit. He is working locally. He is not allowed to leave the US to be with his mother while his case is pending. A decision on his case will take several years. As you can imagine, this is truly a distressing situation to be in- unable to visit a severely ill parent and without the financial resources to support his family.
Julian is unable to pay for his mother’s treatment. His job does not pay much and he has immigration, living and his own medical expenses. He is working hard to improve his English and to acquire his American accreditations, which would help secure better paid employment. He has degrees in Educational Psychology, Pedagogy and Business from Colombian Universities, and has a background in Counseling.
Please help if you can. Since his arrival in the US Julian has faced mental, financial and physical abuse. This is why he is in secure housing. Our family, together with other organizations, are currently helping Julian to find resources needed to help deal with his trauma from violent domestic abuse, improving his English language skills, getting better paid employment and maintaining safe and secure housing. We are asking for help from the community to fund his mother’s needed urgent medical intervention.
