Help Siobhan Heal & Recover After Multiple Strokes

Donation protected
On June 13, 2024, my sister Siobhan was in a devastating car accident after blacking out due to a transient ischemic attack (TIA) — a mini-stroke. She had been suffering from severe headaches for over a week, and the episode struck without warning. When she regained consciousness, she had no memory of what had happened and was rushed to the hospital.

Her son, Malique, was there with her, making sure she got the care she needed. Our brother, who lives hours away, immediately drove three hours to be by her side. A few days later, I flew in to support her as well. Our family is spread across different states—our mom lives in Arizona, and none of us are close by, making this journey even more difficult.

When I arrived, I saw the reality of what she was facing. Her car, which she had paid cash for, was completely totaled. She had already planned to stop driving, but now that decision was made for her. At the same time, she also had to move into a new home, and I helped her with that transition.

But the accident was just the beginning. Days later, she began experiencing excruciating stomach pain—a relentless, stabbing sensation she described as feeling like a metal spoon scraping the inside of her stomach. She went to the ER every single day, and despite multiple tests, doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong. Finally, thanks to advanced nanobot technology, they discovered that the nerves responsible for digestion had been damaged during her mini-stroke.

She was fortunate to find a doctor who could help, but her recovery is long and difficult.

What She’s Facing Now
  • She cannot work and does not qualify for disability.
  • Medical bills and living expenses are piling up.
  • She is unable to drive and struggles with transportation.
  • She has had two more TIAs since the accident—one causing her to fall and hit her head. Thankfully, our mom was visiting at the time.
  • A blood clot was discovered in her heart during a recent hospitalization.
  • She now requires a walker to get around.
  • She still experiences significant pain and has ongoing medical needs.
  • Thankfully, she has a roommate who has stepped up as a caretaker, helping her manage day-to-day needs.

Why She Needs Your Help

Siobhan is one of the most generous, selfless people I know. She has given so much her entire life—never asking for anything in return.

Fifteen years ago, she was one of my very first supporters when I stepped into full-time ministry with InterVarsity. More recently, she has played a major role in building the Andy Abrams Discipleship House—not only providing financial support for us to purchase the initial property but also contributing to its planning, strategy, and long-term vision. Her wisdom, generosity, and belief in the mission have helped shape the nonprofit into what it is today.

Now, she needs help—but she’s not the type to ask for it.

Our retired mother and I have been doing everything we can to support her, but we can only do so much. Siobhan needs financial assistance to help cover medical expenses, transportation, and daily living costs so she can focus fully on her healing and recovery.

Will You Help?

Siobhan once told me that our dad was so strong in dealing with similar health challenges. She is fighting to do the same—not just for herself but to continue being a light for her grandkids, our family, and the community.

I’m asking you to join us in this fight. Would you consider giving $25, $50, or $100 to help her through this difficult time?

Every donation, no matter the amount, will make a difference. Thank you for your support, prayers, and generosity!
