My daughter is a devoted single mom to a medically fragile two-year-old son who was born with Hydrocephalus. He relies on a VP shunt and a G-tube, and requires constant care and attention. In June 2025, she made the brave decision to relocate to Jacksonville for a new job, hoping to provide a better life for her son. Unfortunately, since moving, her son's health has declined, forcing her to reduce her work hours so she could care for him.
On November 14, her son was scheduled for several critical surgeries, including procedures to prevent his hips from dislocating, remove his tonsils and adenoids due to sleep apnea, and insert tubes in his ears. However, just before surgery, he suffered a seizure and was admitted to the PICU, causing all surgeries to be postponed until January 2026. He also attends weekly therapies—physical, occupational, speech, and feeding—and is still unable to talk or walk.
As if these challenges weren't enough, on November 18, she received a letter from her property management company stating her lease was terminated and she had to vacate by November 25. Just days later, on November 21, she lost her job. Now, she is facing the urgent need to find a new place to live, move her belongings, and cover utilities and transportation costs for her son's many medical appointments, all while searching for new employment.
We are reaching out to the community for help. Any support you can offer will go directly toward helping her secure stable housing, maintain transportation for her son's care, and cover essential expenses until she can get back on her feet. Your kindness will make a real difference in their lives during this incredibly difficult time.
