Help Single Mom Keep Her Family Together
In 2017, Sarah and her two daughters (now 11 & 8) fled from full time living in an abusive household and unsafe environment. Over the last 4 years, Sarah's lived with the godfather to her children, Rick, as she's gone back to school for nursing while also trying to save to purchase her own home. In Rick’s home, there is never a doubt that the children are taken care of physically, emotionally, and mentally.
Over the school year, the children's father was removed from their school for a disturbance which kickstarted the courts questioning how fit he was to be with them. Because he was not happy with his limited visitation and lack of control of the situation, this led him to filing false allegations against Sarah and Rick. An ex parte was granted which put the kids back in the father's full time custody without any visitation. This is very scary because he would not allow the kids to speak to any adult privately (friend, therapist, guardian ad litem, etc) and was caught recording private phone calls and hiding security cameras in the children's bedroom. Their father announced many times that he has every intention of drying up Sarah's financial funds and will take her to court every chance he has until nothing else can be done or he gets his way. Along with the intent to drain her financially, he has been trying to tear down the support system that Sarah spent the last four years building.
While court proceedings do seem to be working out in Sarah’s favor, the legal fees have amounted to nearly $8,000 so far, with a substantial portion of that coming from the false allegations that he had put forth. The children are currently safe and back in Sarah's custody, with her having sole legal custody and full physical custody but the expenses are racking up. She is six months into the court hearings and so far, only a temporary order has been issued. There is still a long road ahead and with everyone’s help, we can help prevent everything that Sarah has worked so hard for, from falling apart.
No matter how big or small, please consider donating to support a single mom doing her best to make sure her kids grow up in a safe and healthy environment. All proceeds will go to legal fees and replacing the money that Sarah has already spent out of pocket.
