Help Single Mom get new engine
Spende geschützt
I'm not one to usually ask for help, however I've found myself in a tough situation. I am a single mom of 3, plus I have another child living with me, so technically I have 4 teenagers, with very little, to no, outside financial help. I do not receive child support for any of the kids, and I get very little state help (Food Stamps).
Pre-Covid, I was working 80 hours a week between two jobs. My regular job at the Disney Reservation Center, and driving for Uber. We were doing well. I was actually able to save money every week, after paying all my bills. But then Covid hit, and I have taken about a $3000/month loss of income, since we're not making our full incentive at work, and I was not able to safely Uber, since I have two kids in my house with severe asthma. There was too much unknown, and I wasn't about to risk my kids' health.
On Jan 31, I was in a car accident that totaled my vehicle. Insurance, thankfully, paid off the truck, but let me with nothing to put towards a new car. I had to wait until I got my income tax refund, and went and bought a new (to me) car. Due to my credit, I had to go to a buy here pay here place, which resulted in purchasing a car with no warranty.
I did get a 2017 Ford Fusion. I absolutely love this car. I have had little to no issue with the car, up until a month ago. I started having issues with my coolant leaking. I had my radiator replaced. Last week, my check engine light came on again, and it turns out that there is a known issue with this particular engine type, that causes the radiator to leak coolant into the engine. This is a known issue, but not "known enough" to warrant Ford to issue a Recall. So now, I'm stuck with having to replace my engine. I took the car to Ford, and at first, they wanted $8,400. He called back 20 minutes later, saying that they could bring it down to $6300, parts, labor and taxes included. Still insanely too much. I called around to several recommended mechanics, and they're all saying that they can replace the engine for $3500-$4000 depending on the additional parts that may need to be replaced.
I have paid all my bills for this month, except for my rent, because I was waiting to see how much I'm going to need total, to fix my car. I'm asking for $5000, so that I can get the car fixed, and pay my rent, even though it's late. I had finally gotten back into Ubering regularly in July, so now I'm out about $1000 a month of income, that I really need.
I am extremely appreciative of any help that anyone can give us. It took a lot for me to swallow my pride, and even set up this GoFundMe. I'm just simply down and out right now, and need a little boost.
