Help Single Mom After Loss of Home and Belongings
Donazione protetta
This fundraiser is for my daughter Chelsea and her two young children. She is a beautiful devoted mother who puts all things before herself to take care of her small family. She has been divorced since her oldest was three years old and has struggled financially ever since. She has solely done whatever it has taken to provide for them. They have lived in low income housing for six years now. She began experiencing health issues a while back. She started seeking medical attention and not one doctor has been able to figure out why she is experiencing the symptoms she is. Her children have also been experiencing health issues and have been to their doctor as well with no conclusive diagnosis. Her oldest child, her son, is an asthmatic and has multiple allergies.
In her medical journey, with no clear diagnosis, a friend suggested to her that she may have mold in her home. She looked into having a professional come in but it was out of her realm of financial ability. She delayed the testing and started saving to get the testing done. In the meantime, she alerted the management of her apartment. The management was not helpful. They did suggest she do a Home Depot mold testing kit and that came back positive. The management still denied the mold issue. She then knew it was dire to have a professional involved.
The result of the professional testing was devastating. The professional told her to move out immediately as the mold count was one of the highest he had seen. He told her to move out with none of her belongings. She reached out to another professional to be sure she wasn't making a rash decision. He presented an even more deathly toxic scenario. He reiterated that she needed to leave with NOT ONE THING. He also told her not to go into the home and she needed to seek medical attention immediately. Especially being that she and her kids had already been experiencing symptoms for some time now.
She did have renters insurance but as most are unaware, as she was, mold damage is not covered similarly to a flood or fire compensation. There is a very low cap on compensation on loss due to mold.
You can imagine the devastation! They have lost EVERYTHING. Not only have they lost everything, but because of the deathly toxic levels, a professional company has to be hired to remove her belongings and dispose of them properly. This is immensely costly. Along with the expenses of her losses, she will now have to obtain a doctor for she and her children that will help heal them from this mold exposure. Most of the doctors that deal with mold illness, are not covered by insurance. There will be a large out of pocket cost for this, as well.
I live on a very fixed income. I am helping as much as I can but she can not financially cover all of this cost for the loss and the necessary things that need to be done. I struggle with asking and accepting help and I know Chelsea does as well but she needs help. I want to thank those in advance who would consider helping this beautiful family. She has been blessed with many gracious people in her life who have already given in their selfless generosity. She simply can not afford the immense expenses coming her way.
