Help Sindy with her cancer treatment

I am Ella Amoako, a Pediatric oncology fellow in Ghana. I would like to introduce you to Sindy who is like a baby sister to me and full of so much love. I met her during my time in Cameroon. She is smart and has always wanted to become a doctor (like me). She performed well in her O Levels.

Sadly, things took a bad turn when she was sitting for her A Levels. Sindy had persistent headaches and eventually had some nose bleeds. This did not stop her as she was determined to go through her exams. She went to the hospital after her exams and was misdiagnosed as a case of TB. Symptoms persisted and we requested a second opinion.

Unfortunately, cancerous tumors were found growing at the back of Sunday’s nose and she received a formal diagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. By this time she had lost a lot of weight .

Thankfully, I was able to connect with a pediatric oncologist in Cameroon; who was very helpful! She was started on chemotherapy immediately and she has shown great response to just the 1st course of chemotherapy.

Why do I need your help?

To achieve cure, Sindy will need radiotherapy to consolidate her treatment. Unfortunately, due to the political unrest in Cameroon, we fear her treatment may be interrupted as it is only available in Douala. As a Paediatric Oncology fellow in Ghana, I want to bring Sindy to Ghana to receive her radiotherapy.

We are asking for support for her flight tickets and the cost of radiotherapy and continued chemotherapy in Ghana. In spite of the debilitating headaches and nose bleeds, Sindy still excelled in her A-level exams. She is a fighter and I believe destined to do great things, but she needs your help.
