Help Sin replace her laptop and pay debts

Sinistra Black (she/her) is a writer, filmmaker, and disabled, biracial, Transgender woman in need of mutual aid. Sin is a brilliant, kind, and captivating member of LA’s vibrant Queer and Trans scene. She has a lifelong gift for language and uplifting others that she has parlayed into a career in digital publishing, after several years spent running her own one-woman online-retail business. But without the right tools — most urgently, a replacement laptop — she can’t keep up with her job or pursue new work opportunities and is at chronic risk of losing her housing.

As a base need, Sin needs to replace her laptop, which suddenly broke after just six years, despite her extreme care in maintaining it. She also needs a cushion to help her cover other basic life expenses, and to pay down the survival debt she’s accrued since the COVID lockdown era. Since 2020, credit has been the only way she’s able to stay afloat, beyond just barely paying Los Angeles rent prices.

Ideally, we hope to raise enough so that she can not only get out from under the cycle of treading water in debt, but buy and maintain a safe, reliable used car — to increase not just her quality of life, but her ability to contribute as an active member of her communities in the notoriously expensive and car-dependent LA County.
