Help Simply Dance Nottingham Reopen & Rebuild Our Community

We’re raising funds to help Simply Dance Nottingham reopen after a year of unexpected delays. Our new space will be a vital community hub for dance, fitness, mental health support, and youth services – and we need your help to finish our renovations and open our doors before summer!

Hi, I’m Charlotte – the founder of Simply Dance Nottingham. We’re more than just a dance and fitness studio – we’re a community hub where people of all ages come to feel safe, get active, express themselves, and look after their mental and physical well-being.

A Little About Me
Dance has been a part of my life since I was 3 years old. It's not just a passion – it's who I am. Over the years, I’ve trained, performed, and taught many styles, and I've seen first-hand how tough the industry can be on mental health. That’s why I’ve always dreamed of creating a space that supports not just movement, but mindfulness, resilience, and emotional growth too.

I grew up in a family of small business owners, so I understand the stress and strength it takes to build something from scratch. Alongside dance, I’ve spent the last 15 years running well-being and fitness programmes, all with one goal in mind: to help people feel better – in their minds, in their bodies, and in their hearts.

Why This Studio Matters
Simply Dance isn’t just about dance. It’s about helping people – especially young people – find their voice, rebuild their confidence, and learn to cope with the pressures of everyday life. I've supported hundreds of students through their darkest moments, because I’ve been there myself and know how isolating it can feel.

In 2021, I helped save a young man from taking his own life on Trent Bridge. That moment changed everything for me – it reinforced my mission to grow our studio into a space that could offer more: more therapies, more workshops, and more support for the people who need it most.

The Challenge We’re Facing
Our journey hasn’t been easy. After investing heavily in two previous studio locations, we were forced to leave both due to issues with landlords – most recently being evicted so our last space could be turned into flats, leaving our 200 students without a home.

But I believe everything happens for a reason. We’ve now secured a brand new 2,000 sq ft space – double the size of our old studio – and it’s full of potential. It’s going to be a place for dance, fitness, holistic therapies, mental health support, youth mentoring and so much more.

We’re already working closely with local councils and charities like Jigsaw Homes to support young people in Nottingham – especially those affected by rising knife crime and anti-social behaviour. This new space could give them a safe place to hang out, express themselves, and feel part of something positive.

Why We Need Your Help
The renovation process has taken much longer than planned – over a year now – due to major structural work the landlord had to complete. That’s meant we’ve had to keep hiring temporary venues just to stay afloat, which has eaten up all the savings we had for fitting out the new studio.

Every penny will go directly towards getting us open and fully operational so we can return to supporting our students, families, and wider community.

How You Can Help
We’re seeking support through donations – large or small – or would love to connect with any private investors or silent partners who share our passion for helping people thrive.

If you believe in community, creativity, and mental health support – please consider helping us bring this vision back to life. Your support means the world to us.

Thank you for reading and for being part of our journey.

Please donate, share, and help us spread the word.

With love and gratitude,
Charlotte & the Simply Dance Nottingham Team
